12 B Outreach Report

On 1st August 2026, Class 12B had the opportunity to visit the Missionaries of Charity in Vidyaranyapura, Bangalore, as part of the school's Outreach Programme. Accompanied by our class teacher, Ms. B.K. Sireesha, and our SUPW teacher, Mrs. Lalitha R., we visited the home to understand the compassionate work carried out by the Sisters. The experience was truly eye-opening, allowing us to connect with the residents while reminding us to be grateful for the love and support in our own lives.

Before the visit, we learned that many of the residents were people with special needs who had been abandoned by their families or caretakers. The Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity had given them a safe home where they received care, dignity, and affection. As a class, we contributed essential supplies and looked forward to spending time with the residents, hoping to make them feel valued and included.

At around 8:45 a.m., we arrived at the home and were warmly welcomed by the Sisters. We were taken to the outdoor resting area, where the residents joined us. After greeting them in Kannada, we gathered to perform the songs we had prepared. Although we were nervous at first, seeing the residents smile and sing along gave us confidence. By the end of the performance, some residents even came forward to sing and dance, and their joy made the moment unforgettable. Afterwards, we spent time interacting with the residents. Despite language barriers, everyone made an effort to communicate through smiles, gestures, and simple conversations. One especially heartwarming moment came when the residents learned it was one of our classmates' birthdays. They warmly blessed her and presented her with a simple flower, a thoughtful gesture that reflected their kindness and generosity.

We left the home at around 9:45 a.m. with a sense of fulfilment. The visit reminded us that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion, regardless of age or physical or mental condition. Despite the hardships many of the residents had faced, they continued to display remarkable kindness, resilience, and optimism, leaving a lasting impression on all of us.

We are immensely grateful to our teachers, Ms. B.K. Sireesha and Mrs. Lalitha R., as well as our Principal, Sr. Alpana, for giving us the opportunity to participate in this meaningful outreach programme. We returned with quieter minds, fuller hearts, and a renewed appreciation for the people who support us, carrying with us a stronger sense of empathy and gratitude.
