Anekal Wildlife Forest Range Visit
“Love and kindness are never wasted. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.” – Barbara De Angelis.
On the 19th of October 2020, early that morning the three Principals of Sophia High School, Sr. Alpana, Sr. Anjana and Sr. Madhuja set out in 2 separate vehicles keeping safe distancing norms in mind, to the Wildlife Forest Range at Anekal accompanied by Interact Club teachers Prithvi, Anitha S and Alphonsa at the behest of Deputy Forest Range Officer Tyagaraju parent of Mrunali T, student of 1st standard, Sophia High School. The aim was to distribute the 50 food kits of rice, dal, wheat flour and jaggery amongst the poorly paid forest watchers there.
Owing to Covid restrictions our school Interactors could not be taken there. This was an extension of the DaanUtsav 2020 programme. The forest watchers were extremely grateful for this unwarranted show of kindness.
Greener Planet Activity
The Wildlife camp’s rich fertile land prompted us to conduct a tree planting activity that would heighten the curiosity of the locals who would watch and learn. Young saplings of the gulmohar tree were planted with some palm trees. These plants were planted by the SND Principals as well as the Interact teachers who took their cues from them.
After this a swift plastic cleaning activity was done in the vicinity involving the Sisters and teachers and forest staff and they could fill up a few sacksful of old plastic bags and bottles strewn along the muddy paths. An awareness was definitely generated among the locals to restore the area to its pristine purity.
Their love for mother nature was exhibited when the sisters hugged the trees to show that one must cherish nature.
