“The best classroom and the richest cupboard is only roofed by the sky” -Margaret Mc Millan
The Education Policy of the Government paves way to the physical, mental and the intellectual development of the students by promoting extra curricular activities and giving a day of from regular classes.
Sophia High School meticulously planned this day for the students of Grade 7&8 on the 28th July 2022. The day began with great cheer and enthusiasm for 200 plus students and 12 teachers as they walked down the lanes of High grounds to the scheduled venues. The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and National Military Memorial Park.
To make sure the day is more organised, fruitful and enriching for the students, they were divided into 2 groups, the 7th graders began their first session in the Planetarium followed by Military Memorial park visit, while the 8th graders started their session by visiting the Military Memorial Park followed by Planetarium visit.
The visit to the planetarium kindled the curiosity of our young scientists as they sat for a 40 min session watching and understanding the Solar system and the planets. The Military Memorial park no doubt triggered in our students the spirit of patriotism as they walked through the portals of the park, learning and understanding about the warfare techniques used in the Indo-China war. The monolithic kargil memorial stone was indeed a captivating one for our youngsters as they walked past it.
The students echoed shouts of joy and happiness as they completed the bag less day, the learning without bag truly enhanced their knowledge in a practical way.
