Children’s Day
This year, we had the pleasure of celebrating Children’s Day with Aloysia Children, marking a week filled with engaging activities aimed at inspiring joy and fostering experiential learning. Our wonderful volunteers from Sophia High School played a key role, bringing their enthusiasm and creativity to the forefront. Each day was a new adventure for the children of Aloysia, from interactive games to hands-on learning experiences. The week was filled with laughter, excitement, and meaningful activities. The children not only had fun but also learned valuable lessons that they can incorporate into their everyday lives.
Monday:
Activity: Origami
Value: Hygiene
My group and I had an incredible opportunity to engage with some amazing kids and teach them about the importance of personal hygiene. We had a fun, interactive session about how staying clean helps keep us healthy, and strong and improves our social life, through a PowerPoint presentation.
We also held a special session for the girls on menstrual hygiene, discussing the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during periods. We encouraged them to ask questions and shared tips for managing their health during their cycles.
To make the day even more exciting, we followed up the hygiene lesson with a creative origami session where the kids folded paper into fun shapes and made butterflies and ninja stars while learning about keeping their surroundings clean, by not littering the premises with bits and pieces of paper. It was rewarding to see their enthusiasm and curiosity to learn something my teammates and I worked immensely hard on.
To end such a joyful day on a good note, the kids enjoyed a refreshing glass of milk and a packet of biscuits as a well-deserved treat after all their hard work and learning.

Tuesday:
Activity: Bringing Color and Joy: A Tie-Dye Activity in Aloysia
Value: Bullying- Stop
A tie-dye activity was organized for our Aloysia children in Sophia High School, aiming to bring color, creativity, and joy into their lives. We were able set up the event at our mater foyer, providing plain cotton tote bags and colorful dyes. It was the children’s first time experiencing the vibrant world of
tie-dye. We guided them through different techniques, encouraging each child to create a design uniquely their own.
The children experimented eagerly, discovering that even imperfections could lead to beautiful outcomes. As they admired their colorful creations, their pride and joy were evident. The activity not only allowed them to express their creativity but also built their confidence and encouraged friendships.
By the end of the day, each child left with a personally designed bag and a sense of accomplishment. This event proved that even simple activities can make a lasting impact, inspiring children to explore their potential and reminding the community of the value of nurturing young minds.

Wednesday:
Activity: Finger Painting
Value: Fostering Honesty and Thankfulness Beyond the Classroom
We had a heartwarming and impactful activity under the banner of the Aloysia Program. This initiative, designed to nurture empathy and personal values, brought our students together with underprivileged children from the community for a meaningful fingerprinting exercise centered around honesty and thankfulness.
The program aimed to teach children and participants the importance of these virtues in everyday life. Through interactive discussions and activities, they explored the value of being truthful to oneself and others and expressing gratitude for the small and big things in life.
The fingerprinting activity was a beautiful highlight of the event. Each child and student used their fingerprint to create colorful art representing their personal pledge to practice honesty and thankfulness. This simple yet symbolic exercise reminded everyone that, just like fingerprints, every act of honesty and gratitude leaves a unique mark in the world.
We are incredibly proud of all those who volunteered for this program, demonstrating that learning and growth don't stop when the bell rings. Thank you to the teachers, students, and volunteers who made Aloysia a memorable and transformative experience for everyone involved!

Thursday:
Activity: Rock and blow painting
Value: Rock and blow painting
My group and I presented 2 small skits to teach the children about kindness and patience, which was followed by blow and rock painting activity to make the session much more exciting and to help them bring out the amazing creativity inside each one of them.
We are so grateful that we got this incredible opportunity to teach the kids about the importance of the values of kindness and patience and how it can make a positive impact on our world, which was done through our skit.
It was rewarding to watch them do the painting activities with much enthusiasm and interest. They also made sure all the resources were utilised on the optimum level.
At the end of the activity, they stuck their leaves which were painted using the blow painting method on the tree which was made by my teammates and I. Then they painted the rocks which were arranged below the tree.
All of their paintings were absolutely wonderful and it was enriching to see them enjoy the session on which my teammates and I worked extremely hard on.
To end such a blissful day, the children enjoyed their hot glasses of milk and packets of biscuits as a well deserved treat after all the hardwork they put in, for their activities and the learning

Friday:
Activity: Gratitude Sandwiches
Value: Gratitude
Student Volunteers conducted an enriching workshop for the Aloysia students centered on the theme of gratitude. The event commenced with the compelling story of King Midas, effectively illustrating the significance of appreciating what one has. Students engaged actively during the storytelling, responding with enthusiasm and curiosity, which contributed to a positive and interactive atmosphere. Following the narrative, participants took part in a creative exercise where they crafted “gratitude sandwiches.” Each layer of their sandwiches represented something for which they were thankful, revealing a delightful array of responses—from their love of cricket to appreciation for food—thus highlighting the diversity of their experiences and values. This hands-on activity not only reinforced the central lesson of gratitude but also allowed students to enjoy a delicious treat together. To conclude the workshop on a high note, the group celebrated with an energetic session of music and dancing, fostering a strong sense of community and joy among participants. By the end
of the day, students departed with valuable insights about gratitude and cherished memories, leaving a lasting impression that they can carry forward in their lives.
