Like all other events conducted this year, the Christmas celebrations too was conducted online.
Organised by the staff council of Duchesne, Ms Annette and Ms Alka, it was put together with the assistance of the teachers and students and was streamed live on YouTube on 18th December 2020 at 9:00 AM. The programme ended all the apprehension about…will there be Christmas this year? There will be Christmas for God is with us; we at Sophia are always optimistic even during the pandemic. All the students logged in to witness this live streaming on the portal.
Sr. Chetana SND, the Provincial Superior of the Visitation Province, Bengaluru delivered the Christmas message on the need to believe in Jesus Christ and the Gospel that begun in Bethlehem. Silent Night was beautifully rendered by the Senior Choir girls ably mentored by the music teacher Mr. Abishek who also edited and compiled the videos to bring out this programme successfully.
This was followed by the Christmas skit that was recorded online. Ms. Lali, Ms. Marina, Ms. Sireesha, Ms. Smitha and Ms. Vimala worked on the script that personified the plight of Ms World and the various woes that she endures including the pandemic. The plague that torments Ms World was depicted with rhythmic dance. Ms. Raji and Ms. Sobha worked in compiling the dance performances that were interspersed with the skit performance.
When all seems lost, Ms World has a Visitation from God leading to a revelation. Ushering in the Hope, Love and Joy she seems to resuscitate, revive and rejuvenate thus highlighting the message of Christmas. It affirmed the need to seek His presence in all that we do in the days to come. Alluding to this thought the choir rendered God will make way and Oh Holy Night.
Later, the choir sang a medley of Carol Songs-Joy to the world. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, feliz navidad and Jingle Bells. The presentation also captured the beautifully lit Sophia Campus with the wonderfully decorated Crib evoking nostalgia in all our hearts and an imploration to Jesus Christ for normalcy to return and experience this magic of Christmas in person.
