As part of our school's outreach initiative, we, the students of X 'C' from Sophia High School, visited the Missionaries of Charity in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, on 1st August 2026. Our outreach was organised by our visionary principal Sister Alpana, who ensured that all out needs and requirements for this program were fulfilled. We were accompanied by our class teacher Miss Archna and Miss Linet who guided us safely and were with us through every step of the way. The aim of our visit was to spread joy, offer companionship, and bring a sense of warmth to the residents under the care of the sisters.
Home to many elderly women, along with a few residents with physical and special needs, the centre radiated an atmosphere of simplicity and care. As we arrived, the residents were engaged in their morning routines. Soon, the sisters gathered everyone together, and we were welcomed with warm smiles and eager faces. Despite the challenges they have faced, their cheerful spirit and kindness left a lasting impression on us. The programme began with us students singing a melody of songs in different languages, filling the residence with energy and enthusiasm.
A particularly memorable moment was when one of the elderly residents sang a beautiful Tamil song for us, captivating everyone present. This was followed by a lively dance performance by two residents who marvelled each one of us with their smiles and enthusiasm. Before long, students and residents alike joined in, dancing together and sharing moments of pure joy and laughter.
