Platinum Jubilee Closing Ceremony


Sophia High School Concludes Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Bangalore, January 18, 2025 – Sophia High School celebrated the grand closing ceremony of its Platinum Jubilee on January 18, 2025, with an esteemed lineup of dignitaries. The Guests of Honour included Most Rev. Leopoldo Girelli (Apostolic Nuncio), Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado (Archbishop, Archdiocese of Bangalore), Most Rev. Bernard Blasius Moras (Apostolic Administrator of Mysore Diocese), Most Rev. Arokiaraj Satis Kumar and Most Rev. Joseph Susainathan (Auxiliary Bishops), Most Rev. Dr. K. A. William (Bishop Emeritus of Mysore Diocese), Sr. Mary Chetana SND (Provincial Superior, Visitation Province Bangalore), and Sr. Mary Alice SND (Provincial Superior, Assumption Province Patna).

The event began with a celebratory mass, followed by cultural performances like Circle of Life, How Great Is Our God, and Evolution of the Girl Child. A special segment, Sophia Hall of Fame, showcased the school’s rich history. Sr. Alpana, the principal of Sophia High School, welcomed the gathering and quoted Pope Francis, highlighting the importance of a culture of encounter—meeting others, building bridges, and fostering inclusivity.

The holistic education imparted by Sophia High School received high praise from Most Rev. Nuncio Leopoldo Ghirrelli, who commended the efforts of the Sisters of Notre Dame in shaping the institution’s vision and mission.

His Grace, Archbishop Peter Machado, emphasized the importance of humanity in education and highlighted the transformative impact of educating women, stating, “If you educate a woman, you educate a generation.”

He appreciated Sophia High School for its unwavering commitment to empowering women through education.

The ceremony concluded on a high note, celebrating the school’s 75 years of excellence and its unwavering commitment to universal values and inclusivity. The programme ended with a fellowship meal, bringing everyone together in a spirit of unity and celebration.
