Sophia High School commemorated the Silver Jubilee and Retirement
Programme on 4th December 2025 with deep gratitude and reverence,
celebrating educators whose lives truly reflected the theme, “Graced to Serve,
Called to Inspire.” The programme honoured teachers who have devoted years
of committed service to the institution and whose dedication continues to inspire
generations of students and colleagues.
The celebration began with a welcome address, followed by a prayer service
invoking God’s blessings on the jubilarians and retirees, acknowledging their
faithful service and the grace with which they carried out their vocation as
educators. A prayer dance set a reflective tone, echoing the theme of service
offered with love and inspiration. The lighting of the lamp, accompanied by a
hymn, symbolised the guiding light these teachers have been to the Sophia
community. The gathering was graced by the presence of Sr. Priscilla, Secretary
of the School; Sr. Alpana, Principal of Sophia High School; Sr. Vishala, Principal
of the Primary Section; Sr. Madhuja, Principal of the Opportunity School; Sr.
Pushpa, Treasurer; along with PTA members, Sisters of Notre Dame, staff, and
students, all united in gratitude.
The Silver Jubilarians honoured on the occasion—Mrs. Salome Mathew, Mrs.
Surekha Johnas, Mrs. R. S. Bhuvaneswari, and Mrs. Renita Souza—were
celebrated for completing 25 years of dedicated service, embodying the theme
through their perseverance, commitment, and passion for teaching. The school
also paid tribute to its Retirees—Mrs. Malati Bhat, Mrs. Lalitha H. S., Mrs. Anita
Pereira, Mrs. Matilda Rego, and Mrs. Mani Rajam—acknowledging their years of
devoted service and the inspiration they have instilled through quiet leadership
and unwavering dedication.
A Bible reading from Luke 15:3–9 and its reflection reminded the gathering that
faithful service, when offered with love, carries lasting meaning—perfectly
echoing the spirit of the theme. Prayers of intention offered by students sought
blessings for the jubilarians, retirees, and the entire school community. A
specially curated video presentation captured treasured memories and
milestones, highlighting moments where service transformed into inspiration.
This was followed by a cultural entertainment programme featuring music, dance,
and performances from various sections of the school, celebrating the joy of
shared service.
In her address, the Principal expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasising how the
lives of the jubilarians and retirees continue to inspire the Sophia family. The
felicitation ceremony, the highlight of the programme, honoured the teachers with
plaques, shawls, bouquets, and tokens of appreciation presented by the
management, PTA members, student council representatives, the Central Bank
of India (Sophia Branch), the security team, and the maintenance staff. The
programme concluded with expressions of gratitude from representatives of the
jubilarians and retirees, who reflected on their journey at Sophia High School with
warmth and emotion, reinforcing the enduring message of the theme. The Silver
Jubilee and Retirement Programme 2025 stood as a moving tribute to lives truly
graced to serve and called to inspire, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to
guide Sophia High School in the years ahead.
