Silver Jubilee and Retirement


On December 6, 2024, Sophia High School marked a memorable occasion titled “Enduring Impact, Lasting Gratitude” to honour retiring teachers and jubilarians who have significantly shaped the institution’s legacy. The event was graced by Sr. Priscilla, Secretary of the school and Superior of the Provincial House, the principals, and other sisters from the Sophia community, along with other distinguished guests.

The celebration commenced with a heartfelt prayer service featuring a reflection, prayer intentions, and hymns. Following the prayer service, a spectacular opening dance set the stage for a series of vibrant entertainment programmes. Students delivered captivating performances, including the “Circle of Life” dance, a Panchatatva Dance symbolizing harmony and balance in nature, a Kodavatu dance showcasing cultural heritage, and an empowering dance celebrating the resilience and strength of girls. A medley of songs by students of Std.1 added a delightful charm to the proceedings. The celebration also included Sophia’s Hall of Fame, a creative depiction of Sophia’s remarkable 75-year history, highlighting milestones and achievements that have defined the school’s journey.

The programme paid tribute to retiring teachers whose years of dedication and commitment have left an indelible mark on the institution. Ms. Lali Purkayastha, Ms. Neha Bellare, Ms. Elizabeth Reddy, Ms. Manjula Pinto, Ms. Tessy D’Coutho, Ms. Venetia Joseph, and Ms. Amitha Nanjappa were honoured for their service. Jubilarians celebrating 25 years of unwavering commitment included Ms. Suparna Mukherjee, Ms. Anitha Saldanha, Ms. Angelina White, Ms. Jaya D’Souza, and Ms. Thereza Tauro. Gratitude and admiration were expressed by the management, members of the Parent- Teacher Association and students through speeches and reflections. Tokens of appreciation, including plaques and shawls, were presented to the honorees, recognising their remarkable journey and their role in shaping generations of students. The celebration concluded with a sense of gratitude and pride, leaving everyone inspired by the enduring impact and dedication of Sophia’s educators.
