The 14th edition of the Sophia Model UN was hosted on the 6th,7th and
8th of October.
There were 147 delegates representing 7 committees.
8 prestigious schools from the city of Bangalore sent their Delegations
to Sophia MUN . Individual delegates registered from different schools
in the city.
The committees with their agendas were:
1.AIPPM:
Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill, 2023
2.G20:
Promotion of investments in sustainable development in the context of
globalisation and interdependence. (Note: It will be a semi-crisis
committee with no directives,
however press releases will be allowed.)
3.HRC:
Discussing the situation of migrants and refugees with special reference
to the middle east in the postmodern world.
4. HCC:
Rise of The Cali Cartel
(Freeze date : January 1st,1990)
5.SC:
Addressing the Future Security Landscape - The invasion of Ukraine
and Global Consequences.
(Freeze date : 31st August, 2028)
6.UNODC:
Enhancing Discourse on Psychotropic Flora and Indigenous Traditions
7.NATO:
Discussing Afghan Sovereignty and Long-Term Stability: Balancing
International Security Assistance with National Autonomy
Sophia emerged as the winning team with students from Std VIII
performing exceedingly well. However being the host school the Rolling
Trophy for the best delegation comprising 20 students was handed over
to the next best Delegation representing Vidya Niketan School. They
were presented with a cash award of Rs 20,000, a rolling trophy,a
certificate and a trophy to each delegate.
The three days of Sophia MUN left the delegates with a satisfied
feeling.
