Std. XI Orientation

All for the greater honour and glory of God,

With warm greetings Sophia welcomed the new batch of Class 11 students for the year 2020. Adopting the new normal the orientation was conducted virtually. The Session was held on the Google suite portal on 24th June 2020 with the students logging in with their school login ID given to them. The class teachers opened the session with a prayer and a hymn (Thank you Lord) invoking and seeking God’s blessings and graces for the days to come. The class teacher of XI Science, Ms Shoba Joshy welcomed her class online at 8:30 a.m. While the session for Commerce commenced at 9:00 a.m., followed by the opening session for Arts stream at 11:15 a.m. The Principal for Sophia High School, Sr.Alpana SND addressed the students and welcomed them to the Sophia family with a meaningful message. Sister shared a brief yet succinct insight into the foundation and tradition of Sophia. Highlighting the four cornerstones of Sophia, Sister inspired the students to know, explore new avenues and to achieve their dreams.

The session continued with the introduction of the faculty members. The teachers gave a preview into their subjects including the syllabus, assessment process and career opportunities. Then, the students introduced themselves. The Sophia students were elated to join the ISC section; it was a homecoming for many. The students from other institutions expressed their excitement on being selected to this great institution and were looking forward to a gratifying experience.

Before winding up the inaugural session the class teachers briefed the students on general information about the school and online sessions.

Crème de la crème was the welcoming programme “Journeying with Sophia” put together by ISC Student Council Members, guided by our Principal and faculty members-Ms Lali Purkayastha, Mr Abishek Gnanarajan, Ms Sireesha B K and Ms Marina Stephen. It was an online presentation that was released at 1:15 p.m. on You Tube portal. The presentation offered glimpse into the campus life of Sophia. The seniors (present class 12 students) extended a warm welcome capturing the vivid and vibrant imprints of the school.

The words of the master artist Pablo Picasso are worth reminiscing, “Inspiration does exist, but it must find you working.” We put the best foot forward and journey with Sophia in our endeavour to reach our pursuits.
