"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it
springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the
wasteland." - Isaiah 43:18-19
An orientation programme exclusively organized for Class 11 parents and students at
Sophia High School on 2nd June, 2023, was a highly anticipated event. The aim of the
programme was to provide valuable insights to parents and students about the
programmes planned for the upcoming academic year and to create awareness regarding
the mental health and well-being of adolescents. Dr. Harshini Manohar, Assistant
Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NIMHANS was the Chief Guest as well as
keynote speaker for the special occasion.
The opening ceremony commenced at 9:00 AM and the music was led by Ms. Annie and
Mr. Elton. The Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the event was Ms. Lali. The programme
began with the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the presence of knowledge and
enlightenment. Sr. Alpana SND, the Principal, along with
Ms. Sobha Joshy, the head girl, Isaiah Kaur John and a new parent and student from
Class 11, had the honour of lighting the lamp.

of mental health and well-being of adolescents. She spoke about the challenges faced by
teenagers, such as mood swings, temper management, and peer pressure and provided
guidance on how parents and students can effectively manage these issues. Her expertise
in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry resonated with the audience and provided
valuable knowledge and strategies to ensure the overall well-being of the students.
Following the oration, the faculty members of Sophia High School introduced themselves
and their respective subjects. This allowed parents and students to familiarize themselves
with the teaching staff who will be guiding them throughout the academic year.
Ms. Sireesha, a senior staff member, took the opportunity to read out the school rules and
regulations. This ensured that both parents and students were aware of the guidelines and
expectations set by the school administration. Ms. Marina Crystal, presented a detailed
presentation on Prifact and registration.
The orientation programme was a resounding success. The event proceeded as per the
planned schedule, with all sessions being conducted promptly. The smooth execution of
the programme allowed attendees to maximize their time and gain valuable insights
without any delays or disruptions.
Following the programme, parents and students were invited to the school ground where
tea and snacks were provided. This informal setting allowed for networking and interaction
between parents, students, and the ISC School Faculty. Additionally, attendees had the
opportunity to purchase school uniforms, books, and shoes conveniently on the premises.
The orientation programme received immense appreciation from the parents of class 11.
They expressed their satisfaction with the informative sessions, keynote address, and the
overall organization of the event. The interaction with the faculty members also provided
reassurance and confidence to the parents about their children's academic journey at
