Tee Plantation – “One Cadet One Tree” – NCC

On August 31, 2024, Sophia High School, in collaboration with 8 Kar BN NCC, successfully conducted a tree plantation drive at Tree Park, Machohalli, Magadi Road, Bangalore, under the theme “One Cadet, One Tree.” The event began with the school group, comprising 36 NCC cadets, Associate NCC Officer T/O Smitha S H, and teacher Ms. Kavitha, departing from the school at 8:00 a.m. We arrived at Tree Park at 9:00 a.m., where the day’s activities commenced with the planting of 37 trees. The species planted included Nagalingapushpa, Banyan Tree (Alad Mara), Mahogany (Timber), Jamun, Seeta Ashoka, Honge Mara, and Jackfruit, each chosen for their ecological and environmental benefits. Following the tree planting, the participants enjoyed a 1½ hours educational walk through the park. This walk provided valuable insights into the various tree species and their roles in the ecosystem, enhancing the cadets' understanding and appreciation of nature. After a well-deserved lunch, the group departed from the park at 1:00 p.m. and returned to school by 2:00 p.m. The event was a notable success, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental conservation and providing an enriching educational experience for the students. It highlighted the important role that educational institutions and their partnerships can play in fostering ecological awareness and community involvement.
