Elder Embrace: Compassion in Every Step
The Outreach program of class VIII B
On the 5 th of October, 2024, around 8 in the morning, the class of
VIII B left for their outreach destination, which was a destitute home for the
old, in a Government BMTC bus arranged by the school. We reached Christu
Seva Samaj in angels orphanage Anatha ashram compound, Queens Road,
Bangalore by 8:30 am. The main aim of this old age home is to provide love,
care, support and offer all the help old people who were turned away or
cheated by their kith and kin ever required. There were around 21 such old
parents who were inmates of the old age home. Almost all of them followed a
fixed routine of getting up, having their meals, etc. The event was marked with
a small program arranged by the students of the class, which included
speeches in regional languages and a lively choir. The elders also joined by
singing their own melodies, while some sang along with the students.
Donations were surplus. The students brought in their donation
wholeheartedly. Toiletries, groceries, biscuits and snacks, whole grains, linen,
etc. were a few among the contributions. The interaction with the elderly who
had loads of experiences and stories was truly an eye-opening and enriching
event for the students. With their hearts full, the students left the premises at
around 9:30 am.
