Sophia High School Interact Club organised the annual collection of food
grainsfrom the whole school on 14 th , 15 th and 17 th of October, 2022. The
subsequent distribution of this to the poor is called Daan Utsav. This is an
endeavour to brighten up the festive season in many households.
Convenient food kits of grocery which includes 5kgs rice, and a kg each of
wheat flour, sugar, dals, jaggery, and oil were packed for distribution.
This year the distributionof around 3000 kgs of food and grocery items
collected started off with the 108 inmates of Old age, leprosy and Aids centre
at Sumanahalli, 6 representatives who came on campus received gratefullya
collective 300 kgs in their food kits. Then at Dodananagar, 150 low income
families of the local slum area received combined 1500 kgs in their food
kits.Distribution also took place additionally to the tune of a collective amount
of 500 kgs to Sophia maintenance staff, 100 kgs to 10 families of graveyard
workers, 50 kgs to Jerome Home with 11 poor old inmates, 250 kgs to
orphans of Jeevanalaya Children’s Home, Nelamangala, 350 kgs to 35
inmates Orione Home, Gedalahalli including a few well stocked bags for a few
needy students. The Interact Club members are proud to represent the rest of
the school for such a noble cause.
