International Yoga Day
21st of June is celebrated as Yoga International Day. This year our NCC cadets were a part of this celebration. The theme of this year’s Yoga Day was “Yoga for Humanity” Around 25 crore people across the world took part in various events, performing yoga for better health and wellness. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Yoga has become a global festival, there is a widespread acceptance of the ancient Indian practice”. He participated in the eighth International Yoga Day in Mysuru,where he performed Yoga with thousands of people, for 45 minutes.
Here in Bengaluru, Sophia High School, NCC cadets, took part in the Yoga Day celebrations, at the Manekshaw Parade Grounds, at 6.30 A.M with full enthusiasm to mark the day. The event began at the same time in Mysuru where PM Narendra Modi too performed yoga along with thousands of Indians for 45 minutes. All the cadets of Karnataka Goa Directorate were present in their NCC tracksuit and their yoga mats to be a part of this huge event. At the Manekshaw Parade ground, “Himalayan International Yoga School,” took the lead in instructing the cadets to perform yoga along with the NCC Deputy Director General Commodore, Atul Kumar Rastogi. After the practice of yoga,the Deputy Director General addressed the cadets on the importance of practicing yoga for a better life.
Cadets were excited to perform and listened carefully to the words of Commodore Atul Kumar Rastogi. They were encouraged to practice yoga on a daily basis. After this, all the cadets were given refreshments from the Battalion Office. The cadets received their refreshments and returned back to school in a much rejuvenated manner.
