Sophia believes in giving a holistic learning experience to her students. While the world is figuring out a safety way to get back to normal life, Sophia ensures a safety yet interesting learning experience through the online portal. ‘Fun with Maths’ an interesting maths activity week was planned by the mathematics department of Mater section during the last week of June.

The students of Mater section were showcased with a few tricks of Vedic Maths. They really enjoyed it and were curious to know many more techniques as they could find the solution faster.

For example 1) “Human calendar in a minute” (by making sticky notes of the week code, month code and century code). Students collected the date of birth of their parents, grandparents, siblings, friends so that they could find their DAY of birth. Using this they found out the days of 2021’s national festivals, Christmas day, children’s day etc.and verified with the calendar.
2) They could find the squares, square root, cube roots of numbers within seconds.
By the end of the activities all the students were relating themselves to Sakuntala Devi. The Faculty and students thanked the Principal Sr. Alpana for this exposure and were happy to realize that maths is no more a tough subject to handle.
