Pharmaceutical Webinar

Sophia High School’s Science department organized a pharmaceutical seminar on the 6th of September, 2021. This seminar was carried out on the Zoom platform and commenced at 3:00 pm in the afternoon.

The seminar began with Miss Sobha Joshy addressing the virtual gathering, which included our Speakers, Mr. S Varadharajan and Mr. Mahesh Rao, Our Principal, Sister Alpana, Teachers and the students of classes XI and XII Science. Miss Joshy welcomed our speakers for the afternoon,Mr. S Varadharajan and Mr. Mahesh Rao, before inviting Gina Satish of XI Science to invoke the blessings of the Lord by reciting a prayer.

After the Prayer, Miss Joshy invited Nidhi Rajesh of XI Science to introduce the speakers to everyone present.

Mr. S. Varadharajan is a Specialized Healthcare professional with over three decades of experience and a Masters in management. He is an OD practitioner, a Post graduate in international marketing and a strong leader in Change management and corporate affairs. Currently, he is working with Micro labs as Senior Vice President of Human resource and learning & development.

Mr. S. Varadharajan then began his visually appealing and captivating presentation on pharmaceuticals and explained the role of the pharmaceutical industry followed by its importance. The Pharmaceutical industry is responsible for developing and manufacturing drugs and medicines. He went on to explaining various advantages of joining the pharmaceutical industry like, stability and high money inflow.

As long as humans live, there will be health issues resulting in unaltered importance of the Pharmaceutical Industry. This was explained to the students through the example of corona virus which caused a lot of problems to various industries while the pharmaceutical industry continued to thrive.

Mr. S. Varadharajan then handed over the presentation to Mr. Mahesh Rao who is a Pharmacy Graduate from Ramaiah College of Pharmacy with 19 years of experience in Sales and Marketing. Currently, he is working for Micro Labs as the General Manager of learning and development. He has been with Micro labs for over 7 years supporting the development of field force.

Mr. Mahesh Rao spoke about the various courseslike, degree in pharmacy, bachelor in pharmacy, etc.,that could be taken up by the students to initiate them into the pharmaceutical industry. He also explained how important experience is and how it can help an aspirant climb up the corporate ladder.

Micro Labs involvement as a pharmaceutical industry including, they’re all India ranking was discussed followed by a brief introduction to India’s position as the 3rd largest supplier of drugs and medicines in the world. Certain monetary achievements of India in terms of pharmaceuticals were also discussed.

Mr. Mahesh Rao then handed the presentation back to Mr. S. Varadharajan who concluded the session and answered various questions of the students. These questions covered topics like-
Internship’s opportunities provided by Micro Labs
Details regarding roles of people in the industry
Medicine making rights
Details regarding course outcomes
Position of the industry with respect to corona virus; and many more

After an eventful hour, Miss Sobha Joshy called upon Natalia from XI Science to present a Vote of Thanks followed by our Principal, Sister Alpana’s address to the Speakers, teachers and students at around 4:15 pm.
